You have to keep in mind the vast majority of written games “journalists” are glorified bloggers.
Almost nobody is putting out high effort content, mainly being almost none of these guys are even getting paid. Maybe they’re running the site themselves, so they might be making a few bucks of ads; probably not covering the yearly cost of the site.
As someone who wrote for a good while, there was a recurring joke that if they don’t even have a proper business email, they’re a blogger.
