Last year, Dodge introduced its “Power Dollars” program as a way to get enthusiasts to spend some money on one of its more muscular Challenger or Charger models. The deal was that if you bought a high-horsepower Challenger—a Hellcat for example—you’d get $10 off for every pony its V-8 produced. According to Dodge, the company put more than 33 million horsepower on the road in the second half of 2019 alone. And it’s safe to say the company’s Power Dollars program had something to do with it. In fact, the program was so successful that Dodge is bringing it back for 2020.
Starting March 3, Dodge will reopen its Power Dollar deal. But this time around the sweet deal includes every Charger and Challenger trim. The details of the promotion are exactly the same as last year, and buyers will still get a $10 cash allowance for every horsepower their desired Charger or Challenger has lurking under its hood. If 300 ponies are enough for you, then Dodge will give you $3,000 off a Charger SXT. If you want the most powerful muscle car you can buy right now, then Dodge will give you a cash allowance of $7,970 on the Challenger Hellcat Redeye. It’s a sweet deal, and we’re happy to see it return for 2020.
Dodge sold more than 150,000 Chargers and Challengers last year. It certainly helps that a couple of widebody variants joined the already burgeoning lineup of Charger sedans. The Challenger sold more than 60,000 units, second only to the Ford Mustang in the pony car sales war. Keep in mind, both the Charger and Challenger date back to the aughts. Facelifts and the addition of ever more powerful models have managed to keep these two pony cars relevant, even as they head into the 2020s.
