If you hate the default Google Assistant voice, you’ll be happy to hear that you can change it with just a few taps. You can choose from a number of male and female ones or even opt for the voice of a celebrity like John Legend or Issa Rae. However, keep in mind that the number of Google Assistant voices available depends on your language as well as location.

How to change Google Assistant voice

The easiest way to change Assistant’s voice is to first launch Google Assistant on your phone and then tap the compass icon in the bottom-right corner, which will take you to the Explore page. From there, tap your profile image up top and select “Settings.”

The next step is to switch to the “Assistant” tab and then select the “Assistant voice” option. Tap on any of the colored circles to preview an Assistant voice and then close the page when you decide on which one to go with — your choice will be saved automatically.

Step-by-step instructions on how to change Google Assistant voice:

  1. Launch Googe Assistant.
  2. Tap the compass icon in the bottom-right corner.
  3. Tap your profile image up top.
  4. Select the “Settings” option.
  5. Switch to the “Assistant” tab.
  6. Select the “Assistant voice” option.
  7. Select a new Google Assistant voice and close the page.

Keep in mind that you can also change the Google Assistant voice via the Google Home app. Just launch the app on your phone and then follow the step-by-step instructions above, starting at step two.
