Lord Of The Rings TV Show Casts Another Lead Role

Amazon’s big-budget Lord of the Rings TV show continues to add to its cast. Deadline reports that Maxim Baldry has officially signed on for a “lead role” on the show.

Baldry was rumored for a role on the show back in 2019, but his deal to star was not finalized until recently. Baldry’s name was noticeably absent from the cast list that Amazon announced in January, leading some to believe he was not part of the show. However, the hang-up was that his deal was not signed until now, according to the report.

Baldry is perhaps best known for his role on the BBC/HBO drama Years and Years. He also had parts in Mr. Bean’s Holiday when he was a child, as well as 2019’s Last Christmas.

The Lord of the Rings TV show takes place during the Second Age, but there is no word on any of the characters who might appear in it or by what means the show will handle its time period.

The Lord of the Rings TV show’s showrunners are J.D. Payne and Patrick McKay, who have no previous major TV credits to their name. As many have pointed out, neither did Game of Thrones showrunners David Weiss and D.B. Weiss, and that seemed to work out pretty well.

The Lord of the Rings show is getting underway right now in New Zealand where a stunt actress recently sustained injuries during on-set rehearsals.

Outside of the TV show, more details the new Gollum video game and the upcoming Lord of the Rings MMO have been confirmed.
