What is Hayu? Our look at the reality show streaming service

One of the biggest exports that the United States has is television. That includes reality TV shows where you can see housewives, realtors, chefs, and others deal with their lives and each other. If you don’t live in the US, you might be able to check out hundreds of reality shows via the Hayu streaming service.

What is Hayu?

Launched in 2016 by Comcast’s NBCUniversal unit, Hayu is a streaming service with over 250 reality shows from the United States. The service offers currently run shows with the latest episodes that appear the same day they are shown in the US. The service is only available in Canada, Australia, and parts of Asia and Europe.

What streaming platforms support the service?

Hayu is available for Android, iOS and Apple TV devices along with Roku, Amazon Fire TV,  and Android TV set-top boxes and smart TVs. It’s also available on the Hayu.com web site. In addition, the service is also available for a variety of other cable TV services in its supported territories. You can check to see which platforms are available in your country on the Hayu website. Please note that not all supported platforms are available in all of Hayu’s countries.

What is the price for a Hayu subscription?

Depending on where you live, the price for the service is going to be different. Here are the current monthly subscription prices for Hayu:

  • United Kingdom: £4.99 per month
  • Ireland: €5.99 per month
  • Australia: AUD$6.99 per month
  • Canada: CAD$5.99 per month
  • Norway: NOK49 per month
  • Sweden: SEK49 per month
  • Denmark: DKK49 per month
  • Finland: €4.99 per month
  • Netherlands €5.99 per month
  • Belgium €5.99 per month
  • Luxembourg €5.99 per month
  • Hong Kong HK$40 per month (hayu.com) /   HK$38 per month (iTunes)
  • Singapore SG$4.99 per month (hayu.com) / SG$4.98  per month (iTunes)
  • Philippines ₱149 per month or ₱49 per week

Can I watch Hayu for free?

Yes! Hayu offers a very generous 30-day free trial when you first sign up. You can cancel the service before the trial ends and you won’t be charged.

What can I watch on the service?

If you are a reality TV fan, Hayu will keep you busy with over 250 shows to stream. If you are a loyal viewer of the Real Housewives franchise, you can watch all of the shows, plus their many spin-offs like Vanderpump Rules and Bethenny Ever After. You can also watch classic and current episodes of Keeping up with the Kardashians, along with all of its spin-off series.

Competition shows are also available on the service, most notably the Top Chef series and its spin-offs like Top Chef Junior. True crime shows like In Ice Cold Blood can also be streamed, as can many home selling,  improvement and design shows like the many Million Dollar Listing shows.
