Didn’t Microsoft just prove those “fanboys” correct by revealing the specs of Series X with a blog post and not a conference or expo? Yep, sure did.
Either way, a conference or expo doesn’t affect the overall timeline. The virus halting production in China…yeah, that absolutely does. Why reveal something today if there is the possibility release will have to be delayed until 2021? Obviously this is pure speculation but it is as valid as any other reason.
Hardware reconsideration speculation? Sure….I guess anything is possible. Crazy thing is if the virus forces the gen to be delayed until 2021 then Microsoft may end up regretting tipping their hand so soon. Sony would have the opportunity to do exactly what you said: reconsider their hardware, assuming it needed reconsideration at all.
