It Sounds Like Ben Affleck Didn’t Love Working On Justice League

DC’s Justice League movie may have been a critical and box office failure, but its legacy continues to live on, not unlike Superman himself, forcibly resurrected time and time again. Whether it’s director Zack Snyder himself stoking the fires of the now-mythical “Snyder Cut,” or, in this case, Ben Affleck coming out to say just how bad a time it was for him, the ghost of Justice League will live on forever in our hearts whether we like it or not. And, needless to say, Affleck certainly falls on the “not” side of things, according to an interview he had with GQ to break down his most iconic roles.

Affleck explained that Justice League’s production seemed to be “one problem after another,” and that the process left him feeling fed up with playing Bruce Wayne. “They said, ‘Would you like to direct and star in a solo Batman movie?’ And I found that, at some point, I had lost my enthusiasm or passion for it. And I thought this should really be made by someone who for whom it’s their wildest dream come true. It was clear to me it was time to move on.”

Thankfully, Affleck was not forced to continue in the role or with his now-scrapped Batman solo-film project. In his stead, Robert Pattinson has taken on the mantle for director Matt Reeves, who has made a habit of taking to Twitter for various teases and camera tests. The latest was a look at the movie’s all-new Batmobile, which seems to be much more “classic muscle car” than “single-rider tank.”

Affleck is currently starring in The Way Back, which is in theaters now. The Batman is scheduled to hit theaters June 25, 2021.
