Rolls-Royce Dawn Silver Bullet Collection: An Opulent Tribute to the Past

Rolls-Royce is turning back the clock 100 years with a limited-edition Dawn that celebrates the Roaring Twenties. Dubbed the Rolls-Royce Dawn Silver Bullet Collection, this roadster “captures the carefree attitude of those far-off days in a bold, contemporary expression designed for today’s non-conformists and pleasure-seekers.” Accordingly, it dons an extremely bright silver metallic paint job and opulent interior finishes.

So far, Rolls Royce has only released a few teaser images. When the entire car is revealed, we should see dark exterior details, including dark headlights and a dark trim pieces gracing the front bumper. The wheels, partly polished, give off a “translucent shadow finish” with a silver pinstripe. The roadster also features a twin-humped tonneau cover Rolls-Royce calls the Aero Cowling, which attaches over the rear seats and is removable. This feature debuted on the Dawn at the 2018 Geneva Motor Show, but has been restyled for use on this Silver Bullet Collection model with aluminum and vapor-transferred titanium finishing.

Inside the cabin, look for open-pore carbon fiber trim. A quilted transmission tunnel is inspired, of all things, by leather jackets.Rolls-Royce didn’t outline engine specs for the Dawn Silver Bullet. A 6.6-liter twin-turbo V-12 makes 563 hp in the standard roadster, although special models have received 593 hp.

The roadster follows the tradition of other Silver cars, including the Silver Dawn, Silver King, Silver Silence, and Silver Spectre. Rolls-Royce will make just 50 copies of its latest Silver creation. All of those are expensive (well, every Rolls is expensive), so while prices for the Bullets haven’t been revealed, figure they will cost well above $350,000, the approximate base price for a Dawn. After all, per Rolls-Royce, the Silver Bullet cars are “an ode to decadence, to frivolity, to heady heydays and irreverent past times.” Sounds nice, even though our current times seem to have much of the former and little of the latter.
