Watch Frozen 2 on Disney Plus starting Sunday, three months early

If you are stuck at home due to the coronavirus outbreak, you are likely looking for something to stream on your TV or phone. If that’s the case, Disney just made your weekend. The company has just announced that it will add Frozen 2 on Disney Plus starting on Sunday, March 15.

That’s about three months ahead of what Disney was expected to do with this highly popular 2019 sequel to the hit animated musical. Indeed, it just came out on digital store platforms February 11, and on DVD and Blu-Ray February 25. In a press release announcing the surprise move to place Frozen 2 on Disney Plus this early, the recently installed Disney CEO Bob Chapek stated that the movie had “captivated audiences around the world through its powerful themes of perseverance and the importance of family, messages that are incredibly relevant during this time . . . ”

The word “coronavirus” was not mentioned in the press release. However, it seems pretty clear that the company wanted to give Disney Plus subscribers some extra cheer during this difficult time. It’s likely that Disney will leave millions of dollars of digital, DVD and Blu-Ray revenue from the movie on the table by posting Frozen 2 this early on their recently launched streaming service.

When can I watch Frozen 2 on Disney Plus?

Frozen 2 on Disney Plus will first be available in HD in the US on March 15. It will be added to subscribers in Canada, the Netherlands, Australia, and New Zealand on Tuesday, March 17. That’s also the day where the UHD version of the movie will be available to stream.
