They have tried something new every 3 mainline games.

1-3 – fixed camera, horror
4-6 – Over the shoulder, action
7-??? First person, horror.

Also all the spins offs it’s had, it’s done a lot. It’s hard to tell where it could go next. Maybe more super natural kind of how the original RE4 was going to be? Let’s just hope it’s not action again because they’ve been on a role lately.
