The Fitbit app is gaining some handy new features to keep users safe and healthy from the coronavirus. The app now has a dedicated COVID-19 tab with helpful information, resources, and tools for staying fit at home.
Starting now, users with the Fitbit app and a Fitbit account will start seeing the new COVID-19 tab on the bottom right of the app’s home screen. It’s currently available in 16 countries, including US, UK, Canada, India, Hong Kong, UAE, and others. Fitbit will also expand the availability of the tab in more countries soon.
From this tab, you can now virtually consult a doctor from within the app. The virtual consultation is only available in the US for now and is supported by PlushCare, an online medical consultation service.
Apart from consultations, PlushCare-certified doctors can even help users refill prescriptions for urgent cases. The integration with Fitbit means that you won’t have to leave the app to gain access to PlushCare’s services.
However, you will need to sign up for a free 30-day trial or login to your existing PlushCare account to book your virtual appointment. You can pay for your consultations through insurance or credit cards. Without insurance, a visit will cost you $99 plus the monthly membership fee of $14.99.
Another useful feature part of Fitbit’s resources for combating COVID-19 is a new Clean Cues watch face that’ll remind users to wash their hands every hour.
The new tab will also amass all of the latest, real-time updates from organizations like WHO to stay safe, informed, and healthy.
