LEGO Technic Ducati Panigale V4 R Superbike Kit Is Supersweet!

April 19, 2020

The Ducati Panigale V4 R is a wicked fast race bike. Its rider hangs over a screaming 998-cc V-4 engine that’s good for 234 horsepower (with the racing kit), or 221 horsepower without, and 83 lb-ft of torque. Now that might not sound like much to some folks used to us discussing four-wheel numbers, but trust us it is a lot—especially since the bike weighs only 425 pounds. The Panigale was designed for the track and has a top speed near 182 mph.

Like most superbikes it feels like you are flying when you are riding it full throttle and your knees and elbows morph into extended wings that pull you in and out of turns. You have probably seen professional riders kiss the asphalt with a knee pad on TV, and it’s pretty amazing to see in person. A ticket to ride a new actual-size Panigale V4 R costs $40,000, but thanks to LEGO Technic, you can build your own miniature version out of 646 pieces and it will only set you back $59.99.

The little LEGO replica sports a working front and rear suspension with a two-speed gearbox (instead of the real deal’s six-speed) for its 4-cylinder engine. It measures 12 inches long, 6 inches tall, and 3 inches wide. The tiny Racing Red Duc has front and rear Brembo-like disc brakes, sticky little Pirelli-ish tires, a windshield, dash, and an exhaust pipe. It even has a cute little working chain and a kickstand to park it on your shelf. Too cool.

LEGO and Ducati have partnered together with a new licensing agreement so we can hopefully expect to see more cool bikes to add to our collection like a classic Ducati ST4 or maybe a naked Monster 1200. The LEGO Technic Ducati Panigale V4 R goes on sale August 1, 2020, though pre-orders may begin before then.
