Borderlands 3, Doom Eternal Are The Cheapest We’ve Seen In This Deal Of The Day

Best Buy has just kicked off its latest Deal of the Day, which features two fantastic shooters that released in the last year. Borderlands 3 is currently $13, while Doom Eternal is $35. This deal is available for the PS4 and Xbox One versions of Borderlands 3, while Doom Eternal’s sale price is available for the PS4, Xbox One, and PC versions–unfortunately, Doom Eternal has not yet made its way to the Nintendo Switch. As a Deal of the Day, you have less than 24 hours to take advantage of this sale, but the best deals tend to sell out even sooner, so we don’t recommend waiting long. Both games come with free shipping, though if you want it sooner, a location near you may have it in stock and available for curbside pick-up.

Borderlands 3 marked the return to the beloved series after five years. It received an 8/10 in GameSpot’s Borderlands 3 review for its visually distinct settings and the welcome variety between the four different classes. Critic Jordan Ramee was positive overall on his experience with Borderlands 3, though he did lament the loot-shooter’s reliance of bullet-sponge bosses.

Best Buy’s Deal of the Day

“Borderlands 3 has a few stumbling blocks when it comes to bosses, but these fights are overshadowed by the game’s rewarding gunplay and over-the-top humor,” he wrote. “The game’s character-driven narrative acts as a satisfying finale for the loot-shooter franchise, and the new mechanics and features–especially the reworked skill trees and weapon manufacturer effects–give you plenty of agency in how you want to play through it.”

Id Software’s demon-killing shooter also earned an 8/10 in GameSpot’s Doom Eternal review. Critic Phil Hornshaw praised its exciting combat, well-designed arenas, and engaging platforming, but he found that the story was overly serious and the learning curve was a bit too steep for its own good.

“Though it can take a bit to get the hang of it, the intricacies of Doom Eternal’s combat, combined with its enhanced mobility and option-heavy level design, create a ton of white-knuckle moments that elevate everything that made Doom 2016 work so well,” Hornshaw wrote. “Its combat is just as quick and chaotic, but requires you to constantly analyze everything that’s happening in order to come out victorious.”

Borderlands 3 and Doom Eternal are two great shooters, both of which are exciting and unique in their own ways. If you’re interested in more games like these, then you can snag Crackdown, Shadow Warrior Classic, and more for free. In fact, there are a lot of free games you can claim right now, as developers and publishers lend a helping hand to those who are stuck at home during the current pandemic. Best Buy also has a number of great video game deals for PS4, Switch, and Xbox One this week.
