thatHITBOX: Those Who Remain isn’t short of well meaning ideas. Despite an over reliance on familiar genre touchstones, and an excessive need to plaster every encounter in relentless darkness, it’s important to recognise the efforts made to try and make it stand out. A comic book tie in, and well written protagonist, suggest glimmers of hope for a game that could have been so much better. But for every great concept (like the jumps to an alternate version of the Dormont), it can’t escape certain realities, and it falls well short of its potential.
