  • Bose appears to be working on a gaming version of its QC35 II headphones.
  • A mention of a “Bose QC35 II Gaming Headset” was found in the Bose Connect App’s code.
  • We don’t know if this is a new headset or an attachment for existing QC35 II headphones.

It looks like Bose is getting ready to jump into the competitive world of video game audio in the form of a QC35 II Gaming Headset, which could be similar to the beloved Bose QC35 II headphones.

A new leak uncovered by 9to5Google, which was found by digging through the APK of version 12.0 of the Bose Connect App, suggests that the new gaming headset is coming at some point. In the code, there’s mention of a product with the codename “Tibbers.” This is a reference to a League of Legends character named Annie, who carries around a stuffed bear with that name.

Of course, just having a product with a video game-based codename isn’t a dead giveaway that the company is planning to release a gaming headset. However, there’s a string of code that also mentions a “gaming microphone.” Upon digging deeper, there’s actually an explicit mention of a product called the “Bose QC35 II Gaming Headset.”

A product demonstration video was also uncovered that shows a microphone hooking into what looks like the QC35 II headphones. This video appears to indicate that the headset will not work with Bluetooth while the microphone is plugged in.

The app is designed to allow Bose device owners to connect the company’s audio products to their phones and control various settings. The app has individual settings for all supported devices, so if the company was planning to release a QC35 II Gaming Headset, it would need to be added to the app.

While it seems quite likely that Bose is working on a gaming microphone for the headset, we can’t be certain whether it will be an entirely new headset, or if it will be an attachment that works with existing Bose QC35 II headsets. Or, it could even be both.
