DETROIT — Tim Turvey, General Motors’ chief of customer care and aftersales, will retire this year. In nearly four decades at GM, Turvey boosted customer loyalty and strengthened GM’s parts operations and partnerships with dealers’ service departments.
John Roth, president of GM’s Africa and Middle East operations, will take the customer care and aftersales job, effective Sept. 1.
Roth, 51, has led Africa and Middle East operations since 2018. In his new post, Roth will report to Barry Engle, president of GM North America, GM said in a statement Monday.
Roth has been with GM for nearly three decades, serving in sales and aftersales roles and leading marketing, sales and service for GM Canada from 2013 to 2018.
“John did a great job in both Canada and the Middle East, setting up our brands for long-term success through strong partnerships with our dealers and other stakeholders,” said Engle.
GM’s Customer Care and Aftersales operations, in Grand Blanc, Mich., provides replacement parts for GM and non-GM vehicles under the ACDelco and GM Genuine Parts brands and delivers them to dealers and independent aftermarket partners in more than 100 countries.
Customer Care and Aftersales also offers performance, functional and appearance accessories for GM vehicle brands worldwide.
“As the leader of CCA, [Roth] will help our entire business transform as we execute our multi-brand, multi-segment EV strategy and leverage advanced technologies to improve safety and enhance the ownership experience for our customers,” Engle said.
Turvey, 57, led customer care and aftersales in Japan, China, Canada, Latin America, Africa and the Middle East before assuming global oversight. He has worked at GM for 37 years.
Said Engle: “Tim and his team helped GM achieve the industry’s highest levels of customer loyalty by transforming the service lane into a strategic competitive advantage, and they have delivered impressive growth and strong financial results.”
