Apple, along with a number of high profile Twitter accounts, have been hacked as part of a widespread, coordinated cryptocurrency scam.

Reported by 9to5Mac, the hack has affected many verified accounts such as Apple, Elon Musk, Bill Gates, Joe Biden, Barack Obama, and more.

This hack is likely a Twitter-level compromise of some sort and has affected countless high-level executives and brands. In addition to Apple, Jeff Bezos, Elon Musk, Bill Gates, Uber, Kanye West, and many more have also had their Twitter accounts compromised.

While each account sent out a slightly different tweet, each focused around a Bitcoin scam in which the person or company promised to send back twice the amount of Bitcoin that people sent them.

What is very concerning about the hack is that, according to Coindesk, many of the compromised accounts had two-factor authentication enabled, which many consider to be the main safeguard against attacks such as these.

All of the tweets from each account are highly coordinated. The pitch is that the brand or person will double any payment sent to the included Bitcoin address. According to a report from CoinDesk, many of the accounts were using two-factor authentication.

As of this time, there has been no official response from Twitter as to how many accounts have been affected or how the security breach may have occurred.
