Watch the Lordstown Endurance EV Pickup Doing Trucky Things

The Endurance, not yet on sale, has already endured some hardship in a sense. Lordstown Motors emerged from the ashes of GM’s Workhorse W-15 hybrid pickup situation, which flamed out, but gave a breath of life to a new and arguably more compelling project. But all that history, and any promises Lordstown has made about the upcoming EV pickup, aren’t worth a hill of beans if it can’t do real truck stuff in the way customers want. This promotional video aims to prove that the Endurance has the goods to do the job—and see for yourself if you think customers are ready to jump aboard.

The Endurance is just one of a number of EV pickups on the radar, with varying degrees of profile and vastly different ideas of what an EV truck should be. From the retro-futuristic Tesla Cybertruck, to the relatively conservative 2022 Ford F-150 Electric, the field is wide open. Even the boxy Bollinger B2 and the Rivian R1T are in the hunt. Hummer? Yup, it’ll be back with a bed, as a GMC. And these won’t be the last we’ll see.

Lordstown knows its trucks will be used by folks who do a hard day’s work, or want to at least emulate that vibe. That’s why the Endurance has the requisite bed-mounted AC outlet, to power job site tools. That’s why the Endurance is shown bouncing down a bumpy dirt road, sliding into what looks to be a quarry with earthmovers all around, towing a hay feeder wagon, and that sort of thing.

It’s properly futuristic-looking too, with deep contrasting character lines and modern horizontal LED lighting elements up front, so there’s some video of it cruising around at dusk, too. That shows off the truck’s chunky, sci-fi lines. But it’s going to be power and capability that really make or break this truck and particularly range, which should be in the 250-plus-mile realm according to the company.

Remember, the Endurance will have roughly 600 horsepower and pack four in-wheel motors and a top speed of about 80 mph. It will start at $52,500, and the company is taking deposits now.
