I understand Remedy are not the wealthiest team in the world and so probably want to (maybe need to) maximize their assets to get as much revenue as possible from the next gen, but I seriously think they are doing this the wrong way.
I expect a only a small percentage of current gen control owners will shell out again for the Ultimate edition just to have it on their PS5/XSX, especially when they can still play it on those systems using BC (albeit not as pretty or smooth).
I think we might be feeling a little entitled to consider games that came out prior to 2020 to get free next gen upgrades, but I would have thought an ‘upgrade version’ might be offered, perhaps $10 to current owners who currently have the game & season pass, then I’m sure they would get much more revenue from that offer then asking for a total re-buy.
Personally, I’ll wait until the next gen version is on sale for that $10, if it’s a year or two down the line then so be it.
