2021 Ram 1500 TRX Launch Edition Sells Out in Three Hours

It comes as no surprise, but for those interested in ordering the 2021 Ram 1500 TRX Launch Edition, don’t bother. It’s too late, already. Hot on the heels of Ram’s announcement of what it considers to be the fastest, quickest, and most powerful pickup truck on the market, all 702 orders allotted for the special Launch Edition were filled in about three hours.

The number of available Launch Editions, a paltry 702, celebrates the truck’s 702-hp 6.2-liter supercharged Hemi V-8 mated to an eight-speed TorqueFlite 8HP95 automatic transmission—the only engine offering for the TRX. The TRX is 8 inches wider than a normal Ram 1500 and is set up with custom suspension components that can handle high-speed desert runs comfortably.

The Ram 1500 TRX has a base price of $69,995 without destination charges, quite a premium over the Ram 1500 at $32,145 or Ram 1500 Classic at $27,645. The TRX Launch Edition—starting at $92,010 with optioning skyrocketing it over 100,000 smackeroos, not including dealer markups—is visually striking due to its unique Anvil Gray or Billet paint, markers that will forever distinguish them as Launch Editions. Its red and brushed-aluminum center console badge will ceaselessly remind occupants they are riding in one of 702 trucks.

The Launch Edition package ($12,150) is paired with the TRX Level 2 Equipment Group ($7,920). Other add-ons like the Trailer-Tow Group ($395), Mopar running boards ($1,195), tow mirrors ($445), bed-mounted tire carrier ($995), RamBar roll bar in the bed ($1,895), Trailer Reverse Steering Control ($495), and engine-block heater ($95) can raise the price tag to six figures, a territory unheard of for consumer pickup trucks. We’re talking about a $100,000 half-ton truck! Heavy-duty models tricked out with luxury features are only just starting to nudge into six-figure territory.

Production of the Launch Edition starts in early fourth-quarter 2020 at the Sterling Heights Assembly Plant in Michigan.
