The recently revealed 2021 Ram 1500 TRX pickup is the latest fruit of Fiat Chrysler Automobile’s mission to Hellcat all the things, stuffing its supercharged V-8 into ever more vehicles. While the internet is still geeking out over that truck’s 702-hp engine and trick off-road suspension, the automaker doesn’t want us to forget about the other hell-born behemoth it introduced this year: the 710-hp 2021 Dodge Durango SRT Hellcat. To keep it fresh in your mind, FCA just dropped pricing for the super-SUV.
The 2021 Dodge Durango SRT Hellcat starts at $82,490. For that price, you get FCA’s now-ubiquitous supercharged 6.2-liter V-8, which delivers 710 hp and 645 lb-ft of torque in the Durango (its power figures differ slightly depending on the vehicle it’s installed in) and comes mated to an eight-speed automatic transmission, which shuttles that grunt to the ground via the SUV’s standard all-wheel-drive system. You also get launch control and launch-assist features, as well as a Track setting for the suspension.
Also included? A manufacturer-claimed top speed of 180 mph and an estimated zero-to-60-mph sprint in 3.5 seconds; the Durango completes the quarter mile in 11.5 seconds. If we’re able to reproduce (or beat) those numbers in testing, the Durango Hellcat would easily earn a spot among the top 10 quickest SUVs we’ve tested, beating the likes of the BMW X6 M and Jaguar F-Pace SVR.
Dodge claims the Durango Hellcat will only be available for the 2021 model year, with order books opening in the fall and deliveries scheduled for early next year. But the limited-run Hellcat isn’t the only new Durango model on the horizon. All 2021 Dodge Durangos receive an exterior and interior refresh, and the rest of the lineup is available to order now. The base Durango SXT starts at $33,260, while the GT starts at $37,460. Stepping up from there you have the sport-oriented Durango R/T trim and luxury-oriented Citadel, starting at $46,800 and $49,300, respectively. All-wheel drive is a $2,600 option on all models. The former top dog of the lineup, the 2021 Durango SRT 392 with its 475-hp naturally aspirated 6.4-liter V-8, starts at $64,490.
