We’ve already covered some of the updates coming to the 2021 Jeep Wrangler, and now, we have the full lowdown on what to expect from the rugged SUV. The Wrangler will offer two new special editions—the beach-themed Islander and the posh 80th Anniversary.
On the Wrangler Islander, you’ll find a “Jeep Tiki” decal on the hood. The special edition also comes with black side steps and 17-inch wheels paired with 32-inch tires. A white hardtop is optional.
Going for a totally different look, the Wrangler 80th Anniversary Edition features a three-piece black hardtop, 18-inch wheels finished in Granite Crystal, and special exterior badging. Inside, there are optional leather seats and Granite Crystal accents.
Entry-level Sport models are now available with the Selec-Trac two-speed transfer case that automatically adjusts between two- and four-wheel drive based on the road conditions. The 2021 Jeep Wrangler Rubicon is now available with a beefier, full-time Rock-Trac 4×4 system, which nets a low-range ratio of 4.0:1. Off-Road Plus is now standard equipment on the Rubicon, too. This feature adjusts throttle response, transmission shift points, and traction control parameters for peak performance, allowing you to drive at higher speeds with the SUV’s locking rear differential engaged.
Aside from these updates, the Wrangler is offering two additional USB ports with charge-only capability. The same forward-facing camera system found on the Gladiator will also make its way to the Wrangler.
Powertrain options remain mostly the same. Once again, Jeep is offers a 3.6-liter V-6, a turbocharged 2.0-liter inline-four, and a turbo-diesel 3.0-liter V-6. The four-cylinder will no longer offer the brand’s eTorque “mild-hybrid” tech, but the 3.6-liter V-6 carries on with the feature.
