The all-new seventh-generation Mercedes S-Class has been hogging the spotlight lately, but the three-pointed star brand launched another important car this year: The revised 2021 Mercedes-Benz E-Class. The E-Class lineup, which includes sedan, coupe, convertible, and wagon body styles, is significantly refreshed for 2021—but, surprisingly, that upgrade does not come with that big a price bump.
The 2021 Mercedes-Benz E-Class sedan starts at $55,300, or just $255 more than the outgoing 2020 model. That gets you a rear-wheel-drive E350, which just as before is powered by a 255-hp turbocharged 2.0-liter inline-four. Step up to the E450, which starts at $63,050, and you get the new turbocharged 3.0-liter inline-six with EQ Boost mild hybrid tech in place of the old turbocharged 3.0-liter V-6. The straight-six makes the same 362 horsepower and 369 lb-ft of torque as the outgoing engine, but up to 21 horsepower and 184 lb-ft of that is available instantaneously from an electric motor. The version of that engine in the Mercedes-AMG E53 sedan, which starts at $74,950, produces 429 ponies and 384 lb-ft. Mercedes’ 4Matic all-wheel drive comes standard on the E53, but is a $2,500 option on every model across the board.
The 2021 Mercedes-AMG E63 S sedan starts at $108,550 and continues to pack a twin-turbo 4.0-liter V-8 good for 603 hp and 627 lb-ft, which gets distributed to all four wheels via a nine-speed automatic transmission and AMG-tuned 4Matic+ AWD system. If you want that same level of grunt in wagon form, it’ll cost you at least $113,500. Finally, there’s the E450 4Matic All Terrain, a crossoverized version of the E-Class wagon that starts at $68,650.
The 2021 Mercedes E-Class lineup is set to arrive at dealerships late this year.
