HBM2 is too expensive for cards that will probably struggle to compete with Nvidia’s top parts. Especially if you want 16GB of it. Margins would be thinner than thin.
Speculation has it AMD already had to lower the retail price of these parts immediately after Nvidia’s reveal showed they were heavily up against it.
Expect AMD’s top card to lie between the 3070 and the 3080 in performance and be priced in that gap as well. Problem is Nvidia already anticipated that move as well, and will probably offer up another nasty surprise for AMD in terms of a 3070Ti before too long.
