The issue is they let the fan base go to war on Microsoft for doing cross-gen games and chose not to say “by the way we’re doing the same thing” until after pre-orders went live – and even then it was in a blog post.
They could have said at any point they were doing the same thing, because they knew the whole time. Instead, when questioned on MS’ approach, saying things like “we believe in generations”
Point is, they had every opportunity to be transparent and they didn’t take it
