The Xbox Series S/X & PlayStation 5 Have No Wild Ideas, & It’s A Bummer

The 360 was, in input and power, an extension from OG Xbox. The PS3 was an HD PS2 with a gyroscope in the controller.

The XBOne offered an input that computationally was more advanced than a controller – your body. The PS4 offered a bigger map button and a stupidly bright light.

The PS4 went on to have some of the best games ever. We don’t need wild ideas – we want good games, and regardless of input, devs are smart enough to master what they’re given.

Going forward, thank goodness the platform holders are done playing pretentious gatekeepers on how we should play. Except Nintendo, still trying to force motion controls on their hybrid system in docked mode, but not when they decide to force touch controls because you use it as a handheld
