  • The OnePlus 9E is tipped to join the OnePlus 9 and OnePlus 9 Pro.
  • There’s no word on what this phone could offer.
  • Samsung previously launched a flagship with an “E” moniker.

We’re expecting OnePlus to offer the OnePlus 9 and OnePlus 9 Pro in the first half of 2021, set to be powered by the Snapdragon 875 processor. But it looks like one more OnePlus 9 series phone might be in the works.

Frequent tipster Max Jambor claimed that the manufacturer is working on a OnePlus 9E, although more details regarding this device weren’t forthcoming.

We’re not completely sure where a OnePlus 9E would fit within the flagship range, but we previously saw the likes of Samsung offer the “E” moniker for its Galaxy S10e.

So it stands to reason that this could be a more affordable flagship than the standard OnePlus 9, with a few cutbacks here and there to bring the price down. For example, the Galaxy S10e differed from its stablemates by packing a lower resolution screen, smaller battery, and a dual rear camera setup rather than a triple rear shooter.

We also hope that the apparent OnePlus 9E follows in the Galaxy S10e’s footsteps by being a smaller device. After all, the OnePlus 8 and OnePlus 8 Pro both pack large 6.55-inch and 6.78-inch displays respectively. A recent Android Authority survey also found that a slim majority of readers would sacrifice battery capacity for a smaller phone, so it definitely seems like there’s a market for a more compact design.
