  • Xiaomi has launched the Redmi 9 Power in India.
  • The phone borrows all its key specs from the Poco M3.
  • It does, however, come with one extra feature.

The Xiaomi Redmi 9 Power is now official in India. The phone is another fruit of rebranding and has the same specs as the Poco M3 and the Chinese variant (called the Redmi Note 9 4G). However, there’s one tiny difference between the new Redmi 9 Power and its fraternal twins, and that is the addition of an extra rear camera sensor.

Design, specs and features

In terms of design, the Redmi 9 Power looks identical to the aforementioned Redmi Note 9 4G available in China.

What you get in the specs department is a 6.53-inch FHD+ LCD punch-hole display covered in Corning Gorilla Glass 3, a large 6,000mAh battery, 4GB RAM, 64GB/128GB expandable storage, and the Snapdragon 662 processor.

For imaging, the phone packs a 48MP main camera, an 8MP ultra-wide shooter, a 2MP macro camera, and another 2MP depth sensor. As mentioned before, the only spec difference between the Poco M3, Redmi Note 9 4G (China), and the Redmi 9 Power is this extra 8MP ultra-wide camera brought over from the Redmi Note 9 5G.

The selfie camera remains unchanged at 8MP.

Elsewhere, the Redmi 9 Power features a 3.5mm headphone jack, Bluetooth 5.0, an IR blaster, 18W charging, a side-mounted fingerprint sensor, face unlock, and stereo speakers. You get MIUI 12 based on Android 10 out of the box but the phone should get Android 11 in due course.

Redmi 9 Power price and availability

Coming down to the price, the Redmi 9 Power costs Rs. 10,999 (~$149) for the 4GB/64GB variant and Rs 11,999 (~$163) for the 4GB/128GB model. The device goes up against the Motorola G9 (Rs. 11,999) and the Realme 7i (Rs. 11,999) in the Indian market. It’ll be available in Mighty Black, Blazing Blue, Fiery Red, and Electric Green colorways starting December 22.
