New OnePlus 9 leak may have given us battery, charging details

  • Apparent OnePlus 9 images may have revealed two key charging features.
  • It looks like the phone could get wireless charging and reverse wireless topups.

We’ve already seen quite a few OnePlus 9 series leaks recently, purportedly revealing designs and specs. We haven’t seen much in the way of battery/charging leaks, but this latest report may have revealed a couple of key features.

91mobiles obtained two images from a “trusted source,” apparently showing the vanilla OnePlus 9. We don’t get a good look at the phone, but we do see a punch-hole cutout and what seems like a flat screen.

Look a little closer at the two pictures however and you’ll also see references to wireless charging and reverse wireless charging capabilities. OnePlus previous brought both features to the OnePlus 8 Pro, but this would be the first time that the standard variant gets it too.

The 91mobiles source alleges that the OnePlus 9 will offer 30W wireless charging and 65W wired charging too, adding that it will pack a 4,500mAh battery. This means we might be getting a slightly bigger battery than the OnePlus 8’s 4,300mAh pack. We’re guessing the OnePlus 9 Pro will therefore be getting faster wireless and wired charging speeds if this is what the standard model has.

The website has a solid track record for leaks, but we’d caution readers to take these latest claims with a grain of salt anyway. Do you prefer to see wireless charging or ultra-fast wired charging though? Let us know by taking our poll below!
