WandaVision Episode 1 & 2 Breakdown – Theories & Comics References

After a long break, the MCU is back, this time on Disney+. WandaVision is a new streaming TV series from Marvel Studios, featuring Wanda Maximoff aka Scarlet Witch (Elizabeth Olson) and Vision (Paul Bettany), who we last saw in Avengers: Endgame and Avengers: Infinity War, respectively. However, the first two episodes of WandaVision now streaming are quite the departure from the Avengers movies, putting Wanda and Vision in black and white 50s and 60s sitcom settings.

Episode 1 is clearly inspired by classic sitcoms like I Love Lucy, Bewitched, I Dream of Jeannie, and the Dick Van Dyke Show. Wanda and Vision are married and just moved to town, but we don’t know how or why. Vision has a job he doesn’t understand the purpose of, and Wanda is a housewife. Kathryn Hahn plays Agnes, their helpful neighbor.

Ryan and Mason dig into the first two episodes, list the references from Marvel comics stories like The Vision by Tom King and Gabriel Hernandez Walta, and House of M by Brian Michael Bendis and Olivier Coipel, and give their theories on what’s actually going on.
