Up until now, all the info we know of Oppo’s latest “X” concept phone has been through renders and other digitally-constructed imagery. Now, though, we not only have our first look at a real version of the device, but we have a full eight-minute-long hands-on review of it!

Thanks to YouTuber Brandon LeProktor, we can now see the Oppo rollable phone in all its glory. Frankly, it looks awesome. LeProktor’s video (in French) shows how the phone rolls in and out. It also shows how the software changes when it’s extended or retracted. He also discusses some other features.
We’ve mirrored the video above. However, it’s very possible this video could be taken down at some point due to how much it gives away about the phone before Oppo has had the chance to tease it some more. If that happens, see the GIF below for a good look at how the phone works.
Oppo rollable phone looks great
If there were any doubts about how smoothly the Oppo rollable would open and close, the video makes it clear that it will be very smooth. LeProktor rolls out the phone multiple times in the video by tapping the side key. It looks easy to do and smooth as butter.
Of course, how the phone looks is only one aspect of it. The software seems to be regular ol’ Color OS. However, it does have a few new tricks related to the rollable display. For example, icons reconfigure themselves when the display unfurls and things like text within a browser moves to accommodate the larger screen.
LeProktor spends most of the video answering questions about the phone. He confirms that this is just a concept phone, so there are no pricing details to reveal. He also confirms that there’s no selfie camera or IP rating. However, since this is a concept/prototype, it’s possible a future commercial version of the phone could have different features.
LG has a rollable phone in the works as well that looks similar to this. However, LG’s entire mobile division is in limbo at the moment, so Oppo could beat it to the punch.
