  • A certification through China’s 3C organization proves that the OnePlus 9 charger will have a 65W speed.
  • This means both the vanilla OnePlus 9 and the Pro model will see that ultra-fast wired charging.
  • A previous statement from OnePlus’ CEO confirmed that the charger would come in the box, too.

With the iPhone 12 series ditching in-box chargers and the Samsung Galaxy S21 series following suit, we now need to question whether or not this former staple will appear with any smartphone release. Thankfully, OnePlus CEO Pete Lau already confirmed that the OnePlus 9 series would feature in-box chargers.

Now, thanks to the Chinese regulatory body 3C (via GSM Arena), we know the speed of the OnePlus 9 charger. An unearthed specification sheet related to that certification shows that both the OnePlus 9 and 9 Pro will have 65W chargers. Combine that with Lau’s statement, and you can rest easy that there will be a 65W charger in the box of your future OnePlus 9 phone.

The 3C listing also confirms that you’ll need to use the proprietary in-box cable and charger to see those 65W speeds. If you use a third-party charger, your upper limit for speeds will be 45W. This isn’t too surprising, though, as the OnePlus 8T saw similar limitations with its 65W charger.

Although the 3C certification doesn’t prove it, we are assured that you would also be able to use the 65W charging brick to charge other devices you own, including laptops. This is a nice perk as it moves us ever closer to a one-cable-solution for all our charging needs.

The OnePlus 9 series will launch on March 23. Check out our rumor hub for all the latest!
