Zack Snyder’s Justice League Appears To Accidentally Use Halo Icon

Zack Snyder’s Justice League appears to have accidentally included a symbol from the Halo games as part of a character’s costume. Though unconfirmed, it appears the symbol’s inclusion was the result of an artist using a fan’s custom design as inspiration for logo.

As pointed out by PCGamesN, the symbol visible on Deathstroke’s sword in the film is supposed to be a reference to the League of Assassins, which is the organization run by Batman villain Ra’s al Ghul. However, the symbol also bears a striking resemblance to an emblem that Bungie developer Christopher Barrett said he made 20 years earlier for Halo.

It appears that a fan then modified this symbol for their own take on the League of Assassins, someone working on Zack Snyder’s Justice League saw this when researching for the project, assumed it was a symbol used in official DC media, and did their own take on it for Deathstroke’s sword.

Should that have been the course of events that occurred, a second or third Google search likely would have stopped this from happening. Searching for “League of Assassins symbol DC” does come up with a similar symbol to the one on the sword, but it’s surrounded by others that are completely different. Search “Ra’s al Ghul symbol,” however, and the Halo lookalike is the very first result. Oops.

Zack Snyder’s Justice League releases via HBO Max on March 18, so we won’t have to wait too long to see if any Viva Piñata or Sea of Thieves references found their way into the movie. You’ll be able to watch it live with Snyder himself using Scener on the Chrome browser that night.
