Xiaomi’s innovative Mi Mix line is coming back next week

  • Xiaomi has revealed that the Mi Mix line will come back as part of its March 29 event.
  • Rumors and images point to this Mi Mix device being a foldable phone.

Xiaomi’s Mi Mix line is one of the more innovative smartphone lines around, but we haven’t seen a new device since the Mi Mix Alpha in late 2019. And we haven’t actually seen a commercially available entry since 2018’s Mi Mix 3 and early 2019’s Mi Mix 3 5G variant.

Now, Xiaomi has confirmed on Weibo that its March 29 event will play host to a Mi Mix. Check out the machine-translated post and image below.

Xiaomi Mi Mix 2021

It’s unclear whether this will be a full product launch or a limited look at the new Mi Mix device. We’re guessing it’s the latter based on the company saying it will have a “chat” about the new product. So what should we expect?

Rumors in recent months point to Xiaomi’s first foldable phone adopting the Mi Mix branding, with numerous images suggesting an in-folding design. The picture of the person in the above Weibo post does seem more in line with this foldable screen than a smartphone display.

Xiaomi will have a tough battle on its hands with its first foldable, as Samsung has managed to deliver several polished foldable phones in the last year or so. The Chinese brand usually bests others when it comes to pricing though, so we’re definitely keen to hear how much its first foldable device will cost.

Otherwise, Xiaomi has also confirmed that the Mi 11 Pro and Mi 11 Ultra will be launched at this event. So those on the hunt for traditional high-end phones will want to keep an eye on this event anyway.
