Google’s latest switch to Pixel video stars a banana, teaches you karate

  • Google has posted another quirky instructional video detailing how to transfer files from your old phone to the Pixel.
  • This clip stars a banana and also teaches you a basic starter karate block.
  • Another video is teased, so expect another unconventional video from Google in due course.

Google is doubling down on its quirky Pixel videos. Last month, the company poked fun at mindfulness and meditation instructionals. This time around, we’re getting a brief karate lesson and a cameo by a banana.

As with the previous video, the new reel intends to teach viewers how to transfer their data from an old phone to their Pixel. If that old phone happens to be a banana, this video will be even more useful to you. “As long as you know how to plug in a cord, you won’t mess this up,” the video quips. If you don’t communicate using fresh fruit, this instructional is also pretty useful as it also includes a free beginner’s karate class.

How does this make you want to buy a Pixel? Who knows, but it’s great when companies get weird in their marketing reels. According to this clip, another video detailing how to change the Pixel’s wallpaper should arrive in due course. It seems that Google‘s unconventional clips will come on stream for a while yet.

As a word of warning: if you have never used a smartphone in your life, and this is the first instructional you’ve ever seen on the topic, it’s never a good idea to plug your phone into fresh fruit.
