Since part 1 & 2 focused on long-term/unexpected consequences from violence, I’d expect part 3 to continue this meditation.
I think it would make sense to shift focus to the worlds Dina and Abby create for Lev and JJ. Both groups have a protective dynamic at play, and I’d love to see the different ways they each try to keep the ones they love safe.
I think it would be CRAZY if they made the scope of the story even larger, and started to show how different large “tribes” either go to war or unite as society rebuilds ever so slowly. But that might start to be too Death Standing-y and open world.
Ultimately, I want to see a world where JJ is Ellie’s age, and Dina and Abby are older like Joel was. I want to see how JJ is shaped by generations of loss and fear. I want to see what human forces/armies have developed by that time, and how they spread their influence. Show me conquest, submission, and resistance. And sprinkle in Ellie, Dina, JJ, Abby and Lev somewhere.
For me, the world is the most interesting character. It is what shapes every character first.
