2022 Toyota Highlander Hybrid Bronze Edition Looks Brawny and Bronze-y

Toyota is introducing a Bronze Edition of the Highlander Hybrid for 2022. The Bronze Edition treatment spruces up the somewhat dowdy family SUV by way of radiant bronze-colored wheels and a handful of interior enhancements.

The Bronze Edition is exclusive to the gasoline-electric Highlander Hybrid and comes painted in one of two colors: Cement (a Bronze Edition exclusive) or Wind Chill Pearl. The Wind Chill Pearl paint is new for the fourth-generation Toyota Highlander. Available in front-wheel drive or all-wheel drive forms, the Highlander Hybrid Bronze Edition’s most distinct feature is arguably its bronze-colored 18-inch wheels. These rims certainly push the envelope—and may even push some buttons.

Meanwhile, the Highlander Hybrid Bronze Edition’s interior welcomes the likes of illuminated bronze door sill plates, bronze stitching, mid-century inspired faux-leather seating upholstery with fabric inserts, and special floor and cargo mats, with each featuring an embroidered logo in bronze. Toyota adds other bronze-colored accents, including bronze stitching on the door panels and dashboard, throughout the Bronze Edition’s cabin.

The Bronze Edition builds on the Highlander Hybrid XLE trim. In addition to the XLE’s list of standard equipment, the Bronze Edition features a digital rearview mirror, rain-sensing wipers, a 1500-watt power outlet, in-dash ambient lighting, and more.

Like other Highlander Hybrids, the Bronze Edition relies on a 2.5-liter four-cylinder engine and two electric motors (three for all-wheel-drive models). The combination currently nets a peak of 243 hp. Although Toyota didn’t share power figures for the 2022 Highlander Hybrid, we wager the model will maintain the same output as today’s Highlander Hybrid.

Similarly, Toyota’s yet to announce a starting price for the Highlander Hybrid Bronze Edition, however, the brand notes the model falls between the Highlander Hybrid XLE and Highlander Hybrid Limited, each of which currently starts at $42,710 and $46,665, respectively. Look for the 2022 Toyota Highlander Hybrid Bronze Edition to go on sale later this year.
