Boston Dynamics’ robot dogs dancing in sync to BTS is both my dream and nightmare

The little hops! The graceful arches! The perfectly circular formations!

If you’re into completely creepy choreographed dance routines performed by nightmarish robot dogs to the sounds of beloved K-pop superstars, hit play on the video above.

Hyundai is showing off its official acquisition of robotics company Boston Dynamics with a new video of its prized Spot robo-pooches dancing in perfect time to a commissioned bop from BTS — “Ioniq: I’m On It,” was released in Sept. 2020 to promote Hyundai’s Ioniq EV sub-brand.

The company released another video showing BTS themselves having a dance-off with the robotic Spot dogs, but it’s the one above that really got us. It’s not the first dance we’ve seen from BD’s robots and it won’t be the last, but it’s the arrangements that will appear in your dreams tonight. (The robot arms actually mimic singing at one point!)

Apparently Hyundai somehow had spare money to drop on this, considering how expensive the deal itself was. As per the $1.1 billion agreement, Hyundai will hold an 80 percent stake in Boston Dynamics, with owner SoftBank keeping the other 20 percent.

And BTS, you’ll always keep 100 percent of our hearts.
