The latest Apple TV 4K with that new and improved remote is already on sale

SAVE UP TO $10: Amazon had the all-new Apple TV 4K on sale as of June 30 — get the 32GB model for $169 (normally $179), or upgrade to the 64GB version for $189.98 (typically $199).

The fourth-generation Apple TV 4K from 2017 was on sale for only $99 last week in one of Walmart’s best anti-Prime Day deals, but you’d be forgiven for not grabbing one: Its Siri remote is bad. So bad, in fact, that one Swiss TV company got Apple’s blessing to sell an alternative version in 2019, and Mashable tech reporter Alex Perry went so far as to call it “the worst remote of all time.” That bad.

Thank goodness Apple updated its streaming hardware at its spring event this past April — the remote that comes bundled with the *fifth-gen* Apple TV 4K scraps its predecessor’s wonky, overly sensitive touchpad controls in favor of a more traditional setup with clickable directional buttons and a jog wheel. It’s definitely not as cheap, mind you — the 32GB model starts at $179 — but it’s a much better buy, if you ask us.

Act fast and you can shave up to $10 off its price: As of June 30, Amazon had the 32GB one on sale for $169 and the 64GB version marked down to $189.98 (a $199 value). Note that both are listed as “temporarily out of stock,” but you’ve still got the option of placing an order now to lock in that sale pricing. (Amazon will email you when it has an estimated delivery date and won’t charge you until your order ships.)

Aside from that new and improved remote, the new Apple TV 4K’s biggest selling point is an A12 Bionic chip that supports HDR and Dolby Vision. Not only does that translate to smoother, high-frame-rate viewing, but there’s also a cool new color balance feature that lets you optimize your TV’s picture quality using your iPhone. (It works by having your phone’s light sensors compare the display’s picture to “industry-standard specifications used by cinematographers worldwide” and then adjusting it to match. Neat!)

Hit the link below to zip on over to Amazon and grab a new Apple TV 4K with that snazzy remote while they’re still on sale.
