Dark modes have become a staple on smartphones over the years, making for an especially eye-friendly color option at night. But we’ve also seen the blue light filter mode become a staple on modern smartphones, providing several touted benefits.

The Blue Light Filter option (also known as Night Light, Eye Comfort mode, Read mode, or Eye Protection mode) filters out blue light on the screen in favor of warmer tones. Manufacturers claim that this option can reduce eye fatigue, while there have also been studies suggesting that blue light from screens can affect sleep.

Do you use blue light filter modes on your smartphone though? That’s what we want to know in our featured poll today. So make your voice heard by voting in the poll above and leaving a comment if you have more to say.

Either way, we’re glad to see blue light filter modes being so common across smartphone brands today, reducing the need for a dedicated third-party app. We’ve even seen manufacturers offering extra functionality like an on/off schedule and the ability to tinker with filter intensity.
