SAVE $199.01: Typically $1,299, the MacBook Pro (M1 chip, 256GB) is on sale on Amazon for just $1,099.99 as of July 16 — a 15% savings.

Looking for a new MacBook Pro ahead of the upcoming school year? Here’s a pro tip: Don’t get one from the Apple Store even though its Education Pricing program (open to “current and newly accepted college students and their parents, as well as faculty, staff, and homeschool teachers of all grade levels”) shaves $100 off the MSRP.

We managed to scrounge up an even better deal: As of July 16, you could get the 256GB M1-powered MacBook Pro on sale through Amazon for just $1,099.99. At nearly $200 off its suggested retail price of $1,299, that’s a 15% savings and an exact match of its best-ever Prime Day discount. (It applies to both finishes, too — choose from space gray or silver.)

Our No. 1 laptop pick for students, this latest MacBook Pro is an absolute powerhouse thanks to that custom-made silicon chip — Apple says its 8-core CPU is nearly three times faster than the previous generation (when paired with its active cooling system), while its GPU leaves older models in the dust with up to five times faster graphics. You’ll have no trouble tackling your assignments if you plan on taking any photography, graphic design, or animation classes this coming semester.

It’s all topped off with a vibrant Retina display featuring True Tone technology, which matches its hues with ambient light for a more natural-looking picture. And for those extra-long late-night study sessions, its long-lasting battery will get you up to 17 hours of wireless web browsing (and up to 20 hours of video playback) on a single charge.
