Summer 2021 Samsung Unpacked event announced

July 21, 2021

TL;DR

  • Samsung just revealed the date of the Summer 2021 iteration of Samsung Unpacked: August 11, 2021.
  • The invitation for the event not-so-subtly alludes to the Galaxy Z Fold 3 and Galaxy Z Flip 3.
  • We also expect the Galaxy Watch 4 to make an appearance, but don’t know about the Galaxy S21 FE.

After weeks of leaks and rumors, we finally have official confirmation from Samsung as to the date of its next big launch event. True to the rumors, the event will happen on August 11, 2021. The livestream will begin at 10:00 AM ET — click here to convert that to your local time zone.

The invitation for the next iteration of Samsung Unpacked is above. As you can see, the tagline of “Get ready to unfold” as well as the geometric shapes clearly allude to the Galaxy Z Fold 3 and Galaxy Z Flip 3. Samsung might as well broadcast loud and clear that those devices will certainly launch on August 11.

If you’re interested in getting the Galaxy Z Fold 3, Samsung already has a reservation page open. People who reserve early will see an extra $200 trade-in credit value for their current device and a year of Samsung Care Plus at no charge. There will also be another undisclosed special pre-order offer in the cards. Obviously, the pricing for the phone is still unknown, but Samsung should reveal it at the Unpacked event.

Samsung Unpacked: What else could be there?

The invitation all but confirms the launch of two foldables. However, there are quite a few other Samsung products rumored to launch this year.

It’s very likely that we’ll also see the Samsung Galaxy Watch 4 launch at this Unpacked event. That would also include its counterpart, the Galaxy Watch 4 Classic. We expect these smartwatches to include Google’s and Samsung’s new take on Wear OS (which still doesn’t have an official name).

It’s also possible — although less likely — that we would see the Samsung Galaxy S21 FE launch on August 11. We’ve heard a ton of conflicting rumors surrounding this device, so it’s really up in the air at the moment. If it doesn’t land on August 11, it would probably get its own smaller launch later in the summer or early in the fall.
