Marvel’s New Eternals Trailer Delivers Epic Cosmic Action

The new trailer for Eternals has been released. The upcoming Marvel movie stars Angelina Jolie and it releases on November 5.

While May’s first Eternals trailer put more emphasis on spectacular visuals than plot details, this one is heavy on the narrative. The Eternals are an ancient race of superbeings, who have watched over the Earth for thousands of years to protect them from their evil nemesis, the Deviants. It seems the return of half the world’s population at the end of Avengers: Endgame has led to the Deviants’ return, and so the Eternals must reconvene to stop them.

The movie is directed by Nomadland’s Oscar-winner Chloe Zhao, and the trailer suggests she will bring a different, more naturalistic visual style to many other MCU films. Of course, it’s still a big Marvel movie, so there’s plenty of spectacular cosmic action and humor, as the Eternals take some weird and scary-looking adversaries. Check the trailer out below:

Eternals stars Jolie as Thena, Madden as Ikaris, Kumail Nanjiani as Kingo, Lauren Ridloff as Makkari, Brian Tyree Henry as Phastos, Gemma Chan as Sersi, Salma Hayek as Ajak, Kit Harington as Dane Whitman, Lia McHugh as Sprite, and Don Lee as Gilgamesh.

The next MCU movie is Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings, which arrives on September 3. While full reviews aren’t out yet, the first social reactions have hit Twitter, and you can check them out here. Unlike July’s Black Widow, Shang-Chi can only be seen in cinemas–however, it will be released onto Disney+ 45 days after its theatrical release.
