From TheGamer: “I was wrong about Far Cry 6. For a long time, I’ve talked about why the game should embrace its politics. Prior to launch, narrative director Navid Khavari told us the game wasn’t looking to make a “political statement about Cuba specifically,” while adding that he spoke to actual Cuban guerrilla fighters to build a “guerrilla fantasy.” That always struck me as a little gross – using the basic beats and imagery of a very real political movement to tell a political story that ignores the origins of its own inspiration. “Far Cry should admit it’s political!” has been a soundbite of mine recently. After playing it, I’ve changed my tune. Far Cry should admit it isn’t.”
