High refresh rate phones have been available since 2017’s Razer Phone, but we really saw this tech take off in 2019. Fast-forward to 2021 and it’s pretty rare to see flagship phones without this tech. Even mid-rangers like the Redmi Note 10 Pro and OnePlus Nord series offer this option.

Keeping the refresh rate at 90Hz or higher should enable a smoother experience, with scrolling and swiping through menus being more fluid. This can also be a benefit in games that support higher frame-rates. On the other hand, switching to the vanilla 60Hz rate generally yields battery life improvements.
Some phones also have a “dynamic” or “adaptive” refresh rate option, which automatically switches between lower and higher refresh rates based on content and other factors. You can vote “no” if your phone is currently set to this option.
