Samsung’s 2019 Galaxy S10 series is getting the One UI 4 beta too

TL;DR

  • Samsung Korea has announced that Galaxy S10 series owners can now join the One UI 4 beta.
  • We’re guessing that the beta program will spread to other countries shortly.

Samsung has done a great job of bringing Android 12 to its recent devices, as the Galaxy S21 series has already received the stable version of the update. It turns out that the company isn’t wasting time on bringing a beta version to much older devices though.

Samsung Korea announced on its forum (h/t: Tizen Help) that Galaxy S10 series owners can now join the One UI 4.0 beta testing program. The devices included in this round are the Galaxy S10, Galaxy S10e, Galaxy S10 Plus, and Galaxy S10 5G. Check out the poster below.

There’s no word on wider availability just yet (e.g. Europe, North America, Asia etc), but we’re guessing that beta signups will launch in more markets soon.

Nevertheless, it’s pretty refreshing to see Android 12 come to a two-year-old flagship line so soon, even if it’s just the beta version for now. And this isn’t the first time we’ve seen Samsung’s 2019 models get the One UI 4 beta, as Samsung Korea confirmed earlier this week that the Note 10 series will get access too. It’s a welcome change from companies that take ages to bring the beta software to even their newest phones.

As for a stable update? Well, Samsung’s US roadmap points to a January 2022 time frame for the Galaxy Note 10 series and February 2022 window for the Galaxy S10 range.
