Yes you need online access to install the game, but not for playing the game, once the game is installed, you can play offline.
But like i said, with the game having live service elements, who would play it offline?
For correct info, the disc includes the campaign, 15GB of the 28GB filesize to be exact, it is just not complete with the remainder requiring to be downloaded, nothing new in todays day and age. No game is released with a full complete playable campaign on the disc, all games require a day 1 installation update.
So this headline of “DRM check with an installer” is false information, all discs have DRM checks, and Halo Infinite indeed has the campaign on the disc, it just needs a day 1 update to make it playable.
