TL;DR

  • The Motorola Moto Edge X30 just launched in China.
  • It has a Snapdragon 8 Gen 1, making it the first phone launched with the chipset.
  • It’s a China-only release for now, and will likely have a different name when it goes global.

The Motorola Moto Edge X30 just launched in China, and it has the fabled SD8 on board. It also has a smattering of other cutting-edge specs, including the option to have an under-display selfie camera.

Chinese buyers can grab the phone starting December 15. It will cost 2,999 Chinese yuan (~$471) for the variant with 8GB of RAM and 128GB of storage. The 8GB/256GB version will cost 3,199 yuan (~$502) and the 12GB/256GB version will cost 3,399 yuan (~$533). Those three prices are for the variant with a display cutout. To get the one with an under-display camera, you’ll only have one choice: a 12GB/256GB model for 3,999 yuan (~$627). Other than the selfie camera style and RAM/ROM counts, the models are the same.

Motorola Moto Edge X30 specs and features

Obviously, the chipset is the star feature of the Moto Edge X30. However, it’s no slouch in other departments, either.

On the outside, it has a 6.7-inch FHD+ OLED display with a 144Hz refresh rate. The selfie camera is a 60MP shooter, while the rear system has a 50MP main, a 50MP ultra-wide, and a 2MP sensor on the back that is currently unknown.

Inside, it has up to 12GB of RAM and up to 256GB of unexpandable internal storage. There’s a 5,000mAh battery that charges at up to 68W. There’s also NFC support.

Whenever this phone does make it to other countries, it would probably have a different name while still staying in the Edge family. Stay tuned for that.
