Save $45: Want atmospheric lighting for less? The Philips Hue white and color A19 bulbs (3-pack) are on sale for 33% off at Amazon as of Dec. 29, bringing their price down to $89.99.

Is there a vibe that a color-changing light bulb can’t set? Maybe, but we’ve yet to find it.

Among all the smart bulbs out there that can change a room’s tone from purple to red from your phone, Philips Hue stands out as our favorite. And as of Dec. 29, the three pack of the brand’s white and color A19 bulbs is available for just $89.99 down from its usual $134.99. (You can also snag them at Best Buy for the same price if they sell out at Amazon). To compare, a two-pack of the exact same bulbs goes for $79.99, so this sale basically gives you a third bulb for just $10.

Now to call a Philips Hue A19 simply a bulb that can just change color would be a little like calling your iPhone simply a device that could just make calls and texts. The description really doesn’t capture the full picture.

When you connect to your lights via the Philips Hue Bluetooth app, you can set timers on up to 10 bulbs, designate times for your lights to turn on when you wake up and turn off when you go to sleep, and use voice control via Alexa or Google Assistant.

Though it is a bit of an extra cost, if you decide to spring for the Hue Hub, you’ll really get the most out of your bulbs. You can control up to 50 lights, do everything listed above, plus automate schedules on your lights, control them in several different rooms, control them when you’re not even home, and sync them with movies and music (yes, that includes your Spotify playlist). Oh, and Apple HomeKit users can join the voice control party, too.

Whether you’re looking to harness the full power of the color wheel with your lighting, love the idea of not having to get out of bed to turn your lights off, or simply are on a mission to make your home as smart as possible, the Philips Hue bulbs are a solid choice. Plus, this sale has them at only $10 more than their lowest Black Friday price (and lowest price ever), so this definitely wouldn’t be the worst time to buy.
