Towards the end of 2021, OnePlus CEO Pete Lau confirmed there would not be a T-series phone in the OnePlus 9 series. However, he must have only meant flagship phone because the company did release a T-series model in its native China.
That phone is the OnePlus 9RT, a weird subtle riff on the India-exclusive OnePlus 9R. Now, the company is gearing up to bring the 9RT to India.
Our review: The OnePlus 9R
On January 14, 2022, at 5:00 PM IST (6:30 AM ET), OnePlus will announce the move of the phone into India. Judging from the announcement on its website, it will also launch India’s availability of the OnePlus Buds Z2 at that same event.
Considering the OnePlus 9R was exclusive to India, we don’t expect the OnePlus 9RT to venture to any other countries. However, the company is in a state of flux right now that makes any of its moves unpredictable, so it’s not totally out of the question to think it might make it to Europe or other areas. It is pretty much certain it won’t make it to the United States, though.
We also don’t know many other details about the launch of this phone in India. How much will it cost? Will it have Android 11 or Android 12? Will specs and color options be the same? We’ll need to wait until January 14 to learn the answers!
